Please park in the main parking garage and enter through the main entrance. Check in with the front desk and they will direct you to surgery registration.
Give yourself 5-10 minutes before your arrival time to park and get to registration. This ensures there is enough time to get your child ready for surgery and helps prevent delays to them going back to surgery.
Visitor policy: only 2 adult (over 18) visitors per child are allowed in the pre operative area.

The day before your child's surgery a nurse will call with instructions specific to your child regarding food/drink.
Please follow these instructions very carefully to ensure no delays to your child's surgery and to ensure their safety.
Unless told otherwise, NO FOOD/GUM/MILK/CANDY is allowed after midnight the night before.
There are special times for breastmilk and formula that will be communicated to you when the nurse calls you the day before.
Clear liquids only include water, apple juice, sprite/7up, and Pedialyte. The time you need to stop these the day of surgery will be given to you by the nurse who calls you, typically one hour before you arrive.
The nurse who calls you with instructions should review home medications with you. Please have medication names ready and ask any questions you have.

Try to limit your child to one washed comfort item.
You will separate from your child when they leave the pre-operative area to go back to surgery. You will wait in the surgery waiting room that you will be shown to. Check in with the waiting room attendant. We have private waiting rooms for families expecting long procedures.
For longer procedures, cafeteria is on the second floor and there is a Starbucks on the ground level by the entrance.

Children 10 years and older typically have the IV placed in the pre operative area with the caregiver present. We also have child life specialists available to help with the IV process.
PLEASE NOTE sometimes IVs need to be started in the pre operative area on children younger than 9 years old for safety reasons. Please keep this is mind when showing the video.
